E19: Your HR Department Has No Diversity But Your Responsible for DEI

Your organization wants to hire diverse candidates, but your Human Resources Department is not diverse. How do you create impactful diversity initiatives when the HR team lacks diversity? How do you empower DEI when there are no diverse voices in the hiring process? What should we expect if the HR team has no person of color and no member of any minority group in any significant role? Whew – that’s a lot to unpack, but it’s not abnormal.

Inclusion Unscripted will address the lack of diversity in HR and recruiting roles. According to data from Zippia, the HR Manager's diversity demographics are 67.5% White, 15.5% Hispanic, 11.2% Black or African Americans, and 6.1% Asians. 67.5% are women, and 28.9% are men. The ethnicity of Human Resources Vice Presidents is White (65.6%), followed by Hispanic or Latino (14.1%) and Black or African American (11.1%). The male to female ratio – is 48.9% women and 48.3% men.
